Turn spoken session notes into structured fields

Record an activity transcript, use “Repnotes, add to…” commands while you speak, then tap Interpret to route the commanded text into your progress note.

Two features, one workflow

Activity Transcription records recognised speech during an active workout and saves it with the activity result. Interpret is a separate, fully local parser that looks for explicit “Repnotes, add to…” commands in that saved transcript. It does not generate a summary or guess what you meant.

How to use activity transcription

    Begin the activity

    Open the prescribed activity or workout and start the session. The transcription control is available only after the activity has begun.

    Turn on the microphone switch

    Use the microphone switch at the lower-left of the activity graphs. It sits opposite the camera switch. Approve microphone and speech-recognition permission if your device asks.

    Confirm that Repnotes is recording

    A red recording indicator appears and recognised words move across the screen above the switch. The transcription remains enabled through normal phrase pauses and set preparation.

    Speak normally—or use commands

    You can record an ordinary transcript, or say “Repnotes, add to…” followed by a supported field name and the text you want placed there.

    Finish the activity

    Transcription stays enabled until you turn it off or the session ends. Repnotes attempts to reconnect after normal recognition pauses or temporary interruptions. The completed transcript is saved with the activity log and is available in the result details.

Device note: speech recognition is provided by your device. Availability and whether an internet connection is required can depend on the platform, language and installed speech services.

How “Repnotes, add to…” commands work

Begin each instruction with Repnotes, name a supported destination, then dictate its content. While a command is recognised, the live transcription background changes to faded green. The content ends automatically after a three-second speech pause, when another recognised Repnotes command begins, or when you say “Repnotes done”. “Repnotes end command”, “finish command” and “stop command” also work.

The comma is optional. Interpret also accepts common speech-recognition versions of the wake word, including “Rep Notes”, “Rep Know”, “Rip Notes”, “Prep Notes” and “Reps”. Similar phonetic versions using rep, rip, prep, rap or wrap with note, know, no, nose or node sounds are also accepted. A command must still be followed by add to and a supported destination, which helps prevent ordinary speech from being routed accidentally.

Interpret the saved transcript

    Open the progress note

    From the patient’s results, select the activity log or logs and open the progress note form.

    Review the Transcription section

    The selected activity transcript is pre-populated and remains editable. If the section is hidden, use its visibility control to include and open it.

    Tap Interpret

    Repnotes finds supported commands and appends their content to the matching fields. A targeted hidden field is automatically shown and included. Existing clinician text is not replaced.

    Review every populated field

    Check and edit the interpreted text before saving, exporting or sending the note. The original activity transcript remains unchanged, and tapping Interpret again will not duplicate an identical interpreted line.

Include the raw transcript when needed

Leave the Transcription section included if you want the edited activity transcript to appear in the DOC export or the note sent to Cliniko or Nookal. Hide it if you only want the structured fields.

If a command is not found

Edit the transcript so the instruction begins with “Repnotes add to…” (no comma is required) and uses one of the supported field names above, then tap Interpret again. Accepted phonetic wake-word variations work, but speech without the explicit add to + destination structure is never routed.

Control where command content ends

Pause for three seconds to finish the current command. In a noisy environment, say “Repnotes done” to close it explicitly. Speech after that boundary remains in the raw transcript but is not added to the targeted note field.

Local and deterministic

The Interpret step uses fixed command matching on the device. It does not call an LLM, use RAG, or invent clinical content. The clinician remains responsible for reviewing the final note.
